DomesticAide is a founding member of Cleaning for a Reason and the Tulsa chapter of the program. Since 2009 we have provided free professional house cleanings to women undergoing cancer treatment in the Tulsa area.
Fighting cancer is as hard as it gets. Trying to keep a normal life going while you do it is harder. Treatment weeks take all of a person’s energy, and cleaning the house is simply not possible for days at a time. The house does not stop needing it, so it piles up, and the state of it becomes one more thing to feel bad about on top of everything else.
A clean house does not treat cancer. It does mean that on the week you feel worst, you are not also looking at a kitchen you cannot face. That is worth something, and it is something a cleaning company is actually able to give.

Cleaning for a Reason is a nonprofit serving the United States and Canada. It connects women in treatment with cleaning companies who provide the service at no cost. The national organization handles applications and matching; companies like ours do the cleaning.
There is no cost to the household, and no catch. We are not using it to sell anything afterwards.
It is a normal house clean, done by the same trained crews who clean our paying clients' homes, to the same standard. Kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, floors, surfaces, dusting and trash. Nothing about it is a reduced version of the service.
If there is something specific that matters more than the rest, say so when we arrange the visit. During treatment the answer is often the bathroom and the kitchen, because those are the rooms where cleanliness is not only about how the house looks.

If you are calling on behalf of a friend or a family member, that is completely fine and it happens often. People in treatment are frequently the last to ask for help, and a sister or a neighbour starting the conversation is how most of these begin.
You do not need to explain or justify anything to us. The national organisation handles eligibility, and our part is simply to show up and clean.
