South Tulsa and the Newer Builds

South of 61st, out along Sheridan, Memorial and Yale, the houses get newer and larger. More bathrooms, more square footage, higher ceilings and more glass. The work shifts from careful restoration-minded cleaning to volume: more surface area, more fixtures, and light fittings that need a ladder.

Open-plan kitchens in these homes also mean the kitchen is on display from the living area, so it carries more of the impression of whether the house is clean.

What a Tulsa House Deals With

Tulsa hands a house three particular problems. Spring pollen coats sills, glass and porches for weeks, and it gets inside every time a door opens. Red dirt from unpaved edges and construction sites tracks in on shoes and shows immediately on light floors.
